Ned Bennett is a saxophonist, composer and
arranger living in south London.

saxophonist
Ned plays alto and tenor saxophones for the Sugar
Ray Ford Orchestra , Big Buzzard Boogie Band, Rob
and Pete's Swing Thing as well as freelance work
with many jazz and swing bands including the
Pasadena Roof Orchestra, The Grahamophones and Jools Holland.
Ned also runs his own Ned Bennett Boptet.


composer
A past winner of the Royal Overseas League
composition prize, Ned's music has been performed
by the Calgary Philharmonic, Randy Brecker, as well
as many leading British jazz musicians. Ned writes
all the music for the Young Pleasance theatre
company which has included the popular musical
BUS!, awarded 5 stars by the Scotsman.His
Magnificat was broadcast live on BBC radio 3 in
2004. More recently Ned has received commissions from
the Appassionata Guitar Trio and solo guitarist
Rebecca Baulch.


arranger
Ned is a skilled arranger in a variety of styles. He
has penned almost all the arrangements for the
Sugar Ray Ford Orchestra and the Big Buzzard
Boogie Band, and a classical arrangement
of Over the Hills and Far Away will feature on a
forthcoming vocal album of Emilia Dalby.
He is also involved with the new National
Singing manifesto, Sing Up for which he writes
backing tracks.
